WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION

Sofia Jamiolkowski
Chair
Hello Delegates!
My name is Sofía Jamiolkowski, and I’m thrilled to introduce myself as your Chair for the World Health Organization. I’m seventeen years old and currently a junior at the International American School of Cancun. During my free time, I enjoy listening to music, playing my guitar, reading, and practicing volleyball. For my future, my plan is to study fashion design in Italy.
This would be my sixth MUN conference, but this is my first time as a Chair. My first conference was in ninth grade in which I participated as a delegate in WHO. Ever since, I have won two awards for best position paper and honorable mention for best delegate. The World Health Organization committee is vital for delegates to debate and collaborate on solutions surrounding topics of world health issues, such as pandemics, access to healthcare, and disease prevention.
This year, I truly hope our delegates come well-prepared and approach this conference with a sense of dedication and professionalism. I also encourage delegates to conduct extensive research to ensure a smooth and engaging debate. Remember, background guides should not be your only source of information. Having extra research on both your country and other countries will strengthen your contribution to the debate.

TATIANA BERRON
Co-Chair
Welcome Delegates,
My name is Tatiana Berron de la Fuente, and I am thrilled to be hosting as your Co-Chair for the World Health Organization at this year’s conference. I’m 17 years old and currently a senior at the International American School. When I’m not buried in schoolwork, you can usually find me in pilates, reading a good book, or im told too often sipping on coffee like it's a personality trait. I plan on studying law, most likely business law, though political science has also captured my interest. After graduating, I hope to spend a semester in Denmark before continuing my college journey in Spain.
This will be my fourth MUN conference, and each one has been an incredible learning experience. During my previous years at IAS, I had the opportunity to participate in the US Senate committee. I truly enjoyed diving into current political issues, especially when it came to understanding and defending diverse perspectives. That experience made me appreciate the research and strategy involved in debating real world problems, something I’ve carried with me into every committee since.
As your Co-Chair in WHO, I expect dedication, open-mindedness, and a strong sense of professionalism. This committee focuses on global health issues and some of the most pressing and complex challenges we face as a society. Whether it's pandemic preparedness, access to healthcare, or mental health policies, we’ll be looking at solutions that go beyond borders. I encourage you to do your own deep research and not rely solely on the background guide. It's a starting point, not the whole journey. Last but not least,, I hope you enjoy the conference, make new connections, and leave feeling like you’ve contributed to meaningful discussions. Not only that but i hope you find a new passion or interest as i did. Looking forward to an exciting and interesting committee with all of you!
