AD-HOC CRISIS COMMITTEE

Fabiola Guerrero

Chair

Hello Delegates,

My name is Fabiola Guerrero, and I am honored to be your chair for the AD-HOC Crisis Committee in CancunMUN 2025.  I am 17 years old and in my free time I am fond of reading books, listening to music, and watching journalists who give profound insight to current emerging issues. I particularly enjoy making calendar spreads in my planner. When I graduate I would like to study architecture in a foreign country.

This is my fifth MUN conference and my first time being a chair; previously I have attended two CancunMUNs and two other conferences in Cancun. I have been part of the UNODC, SC, and GA committees. These experiences have aided me in learning through the lenses of other countries, and identifying the relationship between different issues of the past and how they are connected to the present position of countries. The AD-HOC crisis committee is meant to address issues that require crucial awareness and examination.

I look forward to delegates that go beyond what is stated in the background guide and that fully embrace their country’s position in the topic as well as remaining aware of the consequences or benefits that their decisions could have on the other countries. I expect that delegates are up to date with the latest developments of the topic and their involvements. Remember to be confident when presenting, participating, and swift but mindful when making decisions.

If you have any doubts don't hesitate to contact me at fabiola.guerrero@ciac.edu.mx. I will respond right away and get in touch with you if you send me an email!

AD-HOC Crisis Committee

Maria Zurutuza

Co-Chair

Dear Delegates,

My name is María Zurutuza, and I am very happy to be your co-chair for the AD-HOC Crisis Committee for this year’s CancunMUN2025 edition! I am a 17 year old senior at the International American School of Cancun. During my freetime I enjoy reading, learning languages, skating, spending time with my family while also cherishing my own time. I am still deciding my path, but I would like to study something related to sciences like medicine, food technology or genetics in the United States.

I have been to several MUN conferences and this will be my sixth conference, but my first as a chair. During my first conference I was a delegate of UNEP in CancunMUN2023, and I had such a great time that it inspired me to enroll in several conferences throughout 2024. I have been a delegate of the World Health Organization three times and I participated once as a delegate of UNHRC. The purpose of the Crisis Committee is to address urgent situations requiring an immediate solution for the welfare of all.

I am looking forward to working and meeting all delegates. I expect all delegates to be well prepared and endeavor during the conference while maintaining a respectful and professional atmosphere. Delegates are supposed to be able to negotiate with other delegations to reach a middle ground even during highly demanding and complicated situations, and solve the crisis successfully. Please remember that this is a Crisis Committee and that the background guide is not your only source of information; you must delve deep into your country and research in valid sources to feel confident while debating.

If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to contact me at maria.zurutuza@ciac.edu.mx
