UNITED NATIONS HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL

Regina Ficachi

Chair

Welcome Delegates,

Hello, my name is Regina Ficachi, and I am so excited to be your chair this year in the United Nations Human Rights Council in CancunMUN 2025! I am 17 years old and I am currently a senior at IAS. During my free time, I enjoy cooking or baking, listening to music, going out with my friends and going to the gym. When I graduate, my goal is to study marketing in Spain or somewhere in Europe.

This will be my fourth MUN conference; I have previously been the delegate of France and New Zealand both in UNHRC. Last year I had the opportunity to travel to Rome and be part of the RIMUN conference. UNHRC is a committee that concentrates on subjects concerning human rights. I deeply believe it is an important topic to talk about. The intention is to talk about the major issues the world is facing and educate people about it so we all have a respectful and peaceful environment.

I am more than excited to participate in this conference as a chair of UNHRC! As a delegate it is expected for you to take the conference with seriousness and to come well prepared. I also expect delegates to debate respectfully. Remember to use reliable information and use more sources apart from the background guide. Researching about your country and other countries will help you in the debate, but most importantly remember to learn and have fun!

If you have any doubts or questions, please feel free to contact me at Regina.ficachi@ciac.edu.mx, good luck delegates, see you soon!

Co-Chair

Dear Delegates,

My name is Maggie Corona. I am really excited to introduce myself as co-chair of the United Nations Human Rights Council for CancunMUN 2025! I am 16 years old and I am currently a senior at the International American School of Cancun. During my free time I enjoy cooking, knitting, hanging out with my friends and family, but my favourite hobby is playing flag football. I haven’t decided what I want to study yet but my motivation is to keep playing flag football during college.

This conference will be my third time attending a MUN conference. I had the opportunity to attend in CancunMun 2023 as a delegate of Mexico in UNDP. I also attended  CancunMun 2024 as a delegate of France in UNHRC. UNHRC is a committee that involves issues associated with human rights and their violation. This committee’s purpose is to bring solutions to the previously mentioned problems. As a co-chair of this committee I believe it is really important to talk about these issues and come up with their solutions.

I am very pleased to be part of this conference as co-chair of UNHRC, and also thrilled to work with all of the delegates! I am expecting my delegates to come well prepared for this conference, as well as to be respectful with each other, so you can have an unforgettable experience. Remember to use more sources apart from the background guide; you must have your own research. You should deeply investigate and be prepared with all your information for the conference.

I will work hard to make this an excellent committee and conference for everyone. If you have any doubts, feel free to contact me at sara.corona@ciac.edu.mx. Good luck and see you soon!
